ELIGIBILITY 1

Unisource Canada lets you distinguish yourself from the crowd. Enter now and let the world see your brilliance in our four-city travelling exhibit and Uvu winners catalogue.

To enter and be eligible to win, an entrant must be at the time of entry, a legal entity (including but not limited to a corporation, sole proprietorship, partnership, etc.) that has arranged for the purchase of Qualifying Paper (as hereinafter defined) from Unisource Canada, Inc. (“Unisource”) between June 17, 2013 and June 21, 2014, inclusive, for use in Materials (as hereinafter defined) that the entrant has created or participated in the creation of (in whole or in part) and that fall within a Category.

Employees and their immediate family members (defined as spouse (including common law spouses), mother, father, sisters, brothers, sons and daughters) and members of the same household of Unisource, its affiliated companies or agents, and their respective advertising or promotional agencies, are not eligible to enter the competition.

Unisource is not responsible or liable for any disputes and/or claims which may arise between an entrant and any third party regarding this competition and/or any prize awarded herein.

Unisource shall have the right at any time to request or require proof of identity and/or eligibility to participate in the competition. Failure to provide such proof may result in disqualification. All information requested by and supplied to Unisource by entrants for the purposes of the competition must be truthful, complete, accurate and in no way misleading.

Unisource reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any entrant should such an entrant at any stage supply untruthful, incomplete, inaccurate or misleading information.

HOW TO ENTER 2

The competition begins on April 28, 2014 and ends on June 26, 2014. To enter, fully complete an entry form downloadable from the Unisource website at www.unisource.ca/uvu.

The entry form must be accompanied by two (2) original copies of digitally printed (offset or web) materials (“Materials”) produced substantially using Qualifying Papers that fall within one (1) of the following seventeen (17) categories (each a “Category”, collectively, the “Categories”):

For purposes of this competition, “Qualifying Papers” are those papers described at www.unisourcedesign.ca/uvu that have been purchased on behalf of an entrant directly from Unisource between June 17, 2013 and June 21, 2014, inclusive. For certainty, an Entry may contain one or more Qualifying Papers.

Entries cannot infringe, misappropriate or violate any third party’s rights, including, without limitation, copyright, trademark, right of publicity, right of privacy or trade secret; and not contain any content that is offensive, illegal, obscene or that is otherwise objectionable to Unisource or the Judges, in their collective discretion. Collectively, the entry form and the Materials are referred to herein as the “Entry” or “Entries”.

PRIZES 3

Fifty (50) grand prizes are available to be won (including seven (7) grand prizes awarded for “Best Overall Print Job”) each consisting of one (1) copy of the Uvu Book winners’ catalogue; a feature appearance within the Unisource Uvu Show to be held in each of Montreal, Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver during 2014-2015, and one (1) Uvu Unisource Award of Design and Print Excellence Certificate. The grand prizes have no retail value. All entrants will receive one (1) copy of the Uvu Book winners’ catalogue.

Unisource does not make any representations or warranty regarding the grand prizes. Grand prizes must be accepted as awarded without substitution and are not transferable or convertible to cash. Unisource reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion, and for any reason whatsoever, to substitute a grand prize or any component thereof without liability.

WINNER SELECTION 4

  1. Design excellence: overall design appeal of the Materials;
  2. Communications strategy: effectiveness of the Materials in communication of the objectives stated in the Description;
  3. Quality of printing: quality of colour, register, and clarity of the Materials;
  4. Appropriateness of paper: suitability of the Qualifying Papers selected for the Materials;
  5. Use of photography/illustration: creative use of photographs and or illustrations within the Materials; and
  6. Typography: appeal of the arrangement of type within the Materials (including but not limited to point size, type faces, line spacing, tracking, kerning and type design).

The Judges, upon application of the aforementioned criteria to each Entry, will create one (1) score for each entrant. The entrants that receive the top scores, regardless of Category, will be declared the winners in the competition (subject to eligibility verification and providing a Description as set out below). Winners may not be declared in every Category. If necessary, ties will be broken by the creation of individual Entry scores for the “Design excellence” criterion. If there is still a tie after comparing “Design excellence” scores, the Judges will create and compare the scores for each of criteria 2) through 6), or until the tie is broken.

Decisions of the Judges and Unisource are final and binding in all respects and are non-appealable. If a tentative grand prize winner is found ineligible or fails to comply with these Official Rules, that prize may be forfeited and an alternate Entry may be selected based upon the next highest scoring Entry.

The grand prize selected entrants will be notified by telephone or e-mail on or about July 18, 2014. At that time, each selected entrant will be asked to provide a description totaling 250 words or less (“Description”) of (a) the communication objectives of the Materials; and (b) how the design strategy for the Materials helped the Materials achieve those communication objectives. If a copy of the Description is not received by Unisource on or before August 8, 2014, the selected entrant will be disqualified in Unisource’s sole discretion and the prize associated with that Entry will not be awarded. Before an entrant can be declared a winner in this competition, the entrant will be required to sign a standard publicity/liability release (the “Release”) confirming (a) the entrant’s eligibility to participate in the competition and compliance with the Official Rules; (b) acceptance of the grand prize as awarded; (c) the grant to Unisource of the unrestricted right, in Unisource’s absolute discretion, to produce, reproduce, publish, broadcast, communicate in any manner, exhibit, distribute, adapt and otherwise use or re-use the entrant’s name, photograph, Entry, Description, likeness and voice in any and all media now known or hereafter devised, in connection with the competition and the promotion thereof; and (d) release of the Releasees from any and all liability for any loss, harm, damages, cost or expense (including legal and other professional expenses) relating to the participation in the competition, participation in any competition-related activity or the acceptance, use or misuse of the grand prize, including but not limited to losses related to personal injuries, death, damage to or loss or destruction of property, right of publicity or privacy, libel, defamation, or portrayal in a false light, or from any and all claims of third parties arising therefrom. No royalties, guarantees or advances (monetary or other) will be awarded for using the name, photograph, Entry, Description, likeness or voice of a winner or any entrant in this competition.

No communication or correspondence will be exchanged except with the selected entrants and winners. This competition is subject to all applicable federal, provincial and municipal laws and regulations.

GENERAL 5

By entering the competition, entrants acknowledge that they have read and will abide and be bound by the Official Rules, including all eligibility requirements, and by the decisions of Unisource, made in its sole discretion, which shall be final and binding in all matters relating to the competition. Entrants who have not complied with the Official Rules are subject to disqualification.

Unisource reserves the right to cancel, terminate, modify, or suspend in whole or in part this competition at any time and in any way, without prior notice. Without limiting the foregoing, if for any reason the competition is not capable of running as originally planned, for example as a result of tampering, Unisource reserves the right to cancel the competition.

Unisource does not assume any responsibility and is not responsible for electronic communications with a selected entrant or winner which are undeliverable as a result of any form of active or passive filtering of any kind or insufficient space in an entrant’s mailbox to receive e-mail messages, or for late, lost, illegible, incomplete, falsified, damaged, misdirected, mutilated, garbled, or incomplete Entries or Descriptions, which will be void. Entries that have been tampered with or altered are void. Any attempt to deliberately damage any website or to undermine the legitimate operation of the competition is a violation of criminal and civil laws.

Should such an attempt be made, Unisource reserves the right to seek remedies and damages to the fullest extent permitted by law, including criminal prosecution, and to disqualify an entrant from the competition or any other promotion conducted by Unisource now or in the future. In no event will Unisource be responsible or liable for more than the stated number of prizes described in these Official Rules, or any error in the announcement or communication of winners or prizes.

All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation, and enforceability of the Official Rules, or the rights and obligations of entrants and Unisource in connection with the competition, shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Ontario and the laws of Canada applicable therein.

MINI-RULES 6

Competition closes June 26, 2014.
